The unavailability of even simple, non-conventional art material on the island forced me to look at nature as a resource, which as a city bred artist, I have never needed to do. The works with (palm) bark constitute a new experience directly associated with the location of the residency.

Cordel, a form of (Brazilian) folk poetry presented in booklet form with woodcut prints on their covers, …gave me impetus to…produce a few drawings approximating this form of presentation.
