The Circle of Filigree Gold Beads: Historical Connections between Bahia and Viana do Castelo | Rita GT (Multidisciplinary Arts / Portugal)
January 18, 2026, 4 p.m. | Bahia Art Museum (MAB) Salvador
The Vila Velha Theater and the Bahia Art Museum will host a new performance by Portuguese artist Rita GT, currently in residence at the Instituto Sacatar, created in collaboration with the groups Cantadeiras do Vale do Neiva (Minho, Portugal) and Cantadeiras Ohùn Obìnrin (Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil).
Marcus Deusdedit is the winner of the FOCO ArtRio 2025 Award and will be participating in a residency at Sacatar

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2016) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism at the School of Architecture of the University of São Paulo (2024–). His work intersects art, architectural knowledge, and design. He explores the distortions and tensions in these fields caused by socioeconomic issues and racial tensions. He employs multiple languages, including the reinterpretation of objects, as well as blending music and rhythms, such as funk, into his work.

These are our ongoing partnerships:

SECULT: Through the Fundo de Cultura and the Apoio a Ações Continuadas of the Secretary of Culture of the State of Bahia (SECULT), Sacatar is realizing the project "Bahia Mundo". Ilha das Crianças: Ilha das Crianças is a non-profit located on the island of Itaparica, focused on supporting local youth and their families. Artists in residence at Sacatar often offer workshops to their students. Also, Sacatar's Young Mediators are Ilha das Crianças alumni. https://www.ilhadascriancas.org/br

Year of France in Brazil: Sacatar is partnering with the French Consulate in Recife, Fondation des Artistes, FRAC Bretagne, and the Moly-Sabata Residency for residencies and activities in the context of the Year of France in Brazil. https://www.institutfrancais.com
