OPEN STUDIOS INVITATION

Instituto Sacatar and the current group of resident artists INVITE you to our next Open Studio Afternoon. Meet the artists in residence and learn more about their work and experiences in Itaparica.

Wednesday, April 30, 2025
From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Rua da Alegria, 10 – Itaparica

This residency session, running from March 17 to May 5, 2025, brings together eight artists from a range of countries, including Brazil. Come explore Sacatar and connect with the resident artists!

Current Partnerships

Sacatar is proud to foster partnerships with local and international organizations!

These are our ongoing partnerships:

SECULT: Through the Fundo de Cultura and the Apoio a Ações Continuadas of the Secretary of Culture of the State of Bahia (SECULT), Sacatar is realizing the project "Bahia Mundo". The main purpose of the project is to increase the access of Bahian artists to residencies. https://www.ba.gov.br/cultura/32/acoes-continuadas-de-instituicoes-culturais

Ilha das Crianças: Ilha das Crianças is a non-profit located on the island of Itaparica, focused on supporting local youth and their families. Artists in residence at Sacatar often offer workshops to their students. Also, Sacatar's Young Mediators are Ilha das Crianças alumni. https://www.ilhadascriancas.org/br

Fondation des Artistes: For the third year in a row, Sacatar will host two French artists through this partnership. https://www.fondationdesartistes.fr/

IDA/Stanford University: In 2025, Sacatar will host - for the third time - a group of artists from IDA/Stanford alongs with Brazilian who will use their time at Sacatar to exchange and investigate issues related to the African Diaspora. https://diversityarts.stanford.edu/

VideoBrasil: A Sacatar Fellowship is awarded by a jury as a prize to one artist participating in this biennial held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. https://site.videobrasil.org.br/

Factory International: In 2025, Sacatar will host a Factory International alumni. We also look forward to a broader collaboration in the future! https://factoryinternational.org/

Consulat_France

Year of France in Brazil: Sacatar is partnering with the French Consulate in Recife, Fondation des Artistes, FRAC Bretagne, and the Moly-Sabata Residency for residencies and activities in the context of the Year of France in Brazil. https://www.institutfrancais.com

Fundação Bienal de São Paulo: Instituto Sacatar will host two artists developing projects that will be shown at the 36th São Paulo Biennial, in September 2025. https://bienal.org.br/
