Since September 2001, Sacatar has awarded fully-funded two-month residencies to 600 artists of all artistic disciplines and 78 nationalities. Sacatar hosts the artists on its beachside property on the island of Itaparica and sends artists through exchanges with partnered institutions in other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Role Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Working under and in close communication with the Executive Director, the Communications Manager will uphold Sacatar&#8217;s editorial voice and lead public-facing communications.<br><br>The CM oversees content across the website, newsletter, social media, and video. This role is responsible for ensuring all external communications reflect Sacatar&#8217;s institutional voice and are adequately tailored to Sacatar\u2019s audiences (artists, partners, and funders).<br><br>The CM supervises the Communications Coordinator (who handles Sacatar&#8217;s internal communications, website uploads, graphics, etc.) and Sacatar&#8217;s photo and video team.<br><br>The Communications Manager also oversees Sacatar\u2019s audiovisual and photo archive. This role is central to Sacatar&#8217;s strategic goal of strengthening its positioning as a leading international artist residency, particularly with funders and institutional partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Core Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Editorial:<\/strong> writing, editing, and reviewing bilingual (Portuguese\/English) content across all channels; selecting imagery; deciding on post topics and timing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Voice consistency:<\/strong> reviewing existing and new material to ensure alignment with Sacatar&#8217;s institutional tone and messaging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Team oversight:<\/strong> managing and supporting the Communications Coordinator and coordinating with the photo and video team on video\/photo production and delivery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-10\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Archive upkeep:<\/strong> organizing and maintaining Sacatar&#8217;s photo and video archive on an ongoing basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-11\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Partner and grant communications:<\/strong> coordinating joint messaging with partner organizations and contributing boilerplate texts for grant applications and pitch decks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-12 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Core Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-13 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> The deliverables listed below do not exhaust the responsibilities of the Communications Manager. This is a proactive and dynamic position, not a passive task-doer role. Applicants should expect the deliverables below to make up approximately 70-80% of the workload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-14 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Recurring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-15\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Website posts:<\/strong> usually 4\/month; bilingual.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Posts are often: Celebrating Fellows\u2019 achievements; announcing new partnerships; announcing Sacatar events such as Open Studios, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-16\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Review and update website\u2019s permanent pages; <\/strong>quarterly; bilingual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-17\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Newsletter:<\/strong> usually 1\/month, bilingual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-18\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Video content planning and review.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Videos include: Selected Fellows\u2019 interviews; fundraising campaigns, institutional\/presentation videos; documentation of events, such as Open Studios, and alumni events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-19\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Social media:<\/strong> usually 1 post\/week; bilingual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-20\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Photo archive maintenance: <\/strong>ongoing\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organizing and updating Sacatar\u2019s 25-year archive of photos and videos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating systems for how the archive is organized, fed, and accessed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-21\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Media outreach; <\/strong>ongoing\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Though this is a smaller part of the role, the CM is expected to build rapport with journalists and relevant media outlets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Examples of relevant media are major Brazilian newspapers and established international art publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-22 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Sporadic<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-23\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Open Call announcements and accompanying website texts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-24\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Annual Report texts and images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-25\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Boilerplate texts for grant applications and pitch decks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-26\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Coordination of joint communications with partner organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-27\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Creation of communication materials for special events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-28\" style=\"font-size:14px\"> Communication for new projects and initiatives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-29\" style=\"font-size:14px\">Outreach to former Fellows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-30 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Sporadic tasks are not evenly distributed throughout the year.
