The award is given biennially to an American artist participating in the Whitney Biennial and deemed by the jurors to have the \u201cpotential to make a lasting impact on the history of American art\u201d. The award is one of the most important in contemporary art, and includes a prize of $100,000, the largest of its kind for an individual artist.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">In addition to the award, Pat Oleszko has also had a recent career retrospective &#8212; \u201cPat Oleszko: Fool Disclosure\u201d at the SculptureCenter, in New York, which was on view between January and April of this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"983\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/sacatar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pat-Oleszko-byML-1-983x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sacatar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pat-Oleszko-byML-1-983x1024.jpg 983w, https:\/\/sacatar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pat-Oleszko-byML-1-288x300.jpg 288w, https:\/\/sacatar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pat-Oleszko-byML-1-768x800.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sacatar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pat-Oleszko-byML-1.jpg 1390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 983px) 100vw, 983px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pat Oleszko at Sacatar in 2017, standing under glass art by Joseph Cavalieiri (Sacatar Fellow in 2011 and 2017).<br>Photo credit: Mitch Loch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">About her 2017 residency at Sacatar, Pat said:&nbsp;<em>\u201cOf course, I didn\u2019t embark on the project I came [to Sacatar] with, how boring is that\u2026 No, the circumstances always upend the process (&#8230;) and I went with inspiration, perspiration, and presentation.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Also during that residency, Pat celebrated her 70th birthday by swimming two miles across the Ba\u00eda de Todos os Santos, from Sacatar to Ilha do Medo! &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">Pat\u2019s unmistakable inflatable sculptures are sharp with humor and subversiveness.
