Thank you to the more than 100 visitors who joined us for our Open Studios Afternoon on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm!

Our resident artists shared their creative processes and works in progress, including special presentations by Snowden Wright, Tiecoura N’Daou and Paola Barreto.

The artists who showed their studios and works in progress were Tiecoura N’Daou, Luma Nascimento, João do Nascimento, Paola Barreto, Snowden Wright and Oluseye Olungesi.

It was a wonderful afternoon of exchanges and encounters at Sacatar!

PROGRAMMING

14h to 17h: Visit to the artists’ studios, with an exhibition of the work developed during the residency at Sacatar.

3pm | Sphinx Studio 2: Reading of excerpts from the next book by writer Snowden Wright, produced at Sacatar. The book tells the story of Confederate soldiers from the US Civil War who, after their defeat, immigrated to the interior of São Paulo, Brazil.

16h20 | Estúdio Iemanjá 1: Activation of the video installation “ZOPA – Zona de Possível Acordo” (Zone of Possible Agreement), created by multidisciplinary artist Paola Barreto during her residency. The presentation will feature the special participation of musician Jorgina Oliva, ogã Luiz Guilherme and dancer Zulmí Nascimento.
