Composer and clarinetist Derek Bermel brings together an extraordinary group of artists for an eclectic night of music of his own music – including the New York premiere of his String Quartet No. 2 – as well as works that have influenced him. Internationally recognized for his creativity, theatricality and virtuosity, Bermel is acclaimed for his “unambiguously luscious” music (The New York Times) that is “intricate, witty, clear-spoken, tender and extraordinarily beautiful (San Francisco Chronicle).
The Ying Quartet comes “as close to the ideal as possible, delivering chamber music of astonishing, refreshing exaltation and exhilaration” (The Los Angeles Times), combining brilliantly communicative performances with a fearlessly imaginative view of chamber music in today’s world.
Hailed by critics as “frighteningly talented” (The New York Times) and “a great pianist” (The Los Angeles Times), Christopher Taylor has distinguished himself throughout his career as an innovative musician with a diverse array of talents and interests.
Two-time Grammy-nominated Brazilian guitarist João Luiz tours internationally as a both guitarist and composer collaborating with today’s most thrilling artists.
